Part 1 of Zeina Karara’s residency, DO YOU SEE WHAT I’M SEEING is a photowalk and textural extraction at Mubarakiya, where we’ll explore street photography and architecture as a timeless medium, asking questions to ourselves and each other about the nature of mourning and moving on followed by a workshop segment at @goodcup.
Zeina’s residency revolves around the temporality of presence. As she plans to leave Kuwait indefinitely, she is able to experience the country through a lens of longing and grief, asking us to join her as she lets go of a significant portion of her life. The prevalence of this experience (leaving a nation without the guarantee of return) in the gulf states and beyond will be used as a tool to connect to each other and the physical space, then use those sights to create something new.
Because of the nature of noticing, we ask that you bring materials you are comfortable using, such as a sketchbook, camera or any medium you would naturally use on the go on a walk.

الجزء 1 من إقامة زينة كرارة، هل ترى ما أراه هو مشي لالتقاط الصور واستخلاص النسيج في المباركية، حيث سنستكشف التصوير الشارعي والعمارة كوسيلة لا تزول بالزمن، نطرح أسئلة على أنفسنا وعلى بعضنا البعض حول طبيعة الحداد والاستمرار بعد ذلك بجزء من ورشة العمل في @goodcup.
تدور إقامة زينة حول زمنية الحضور. بينما تخطط لمغادرة الكويت لأجل غير مسمى، فهي قادرة على تجربة البلاد من خلال عدسة الشوق والحزن، تطلب منا أن ننضم إليها بينما تترك جزءا كبيرا من حياتها. سيتم استخدام انتشار هذه التجربة (مغادرة الأمة بدون ضمان العودة) في دول الخليج وما وراءها كأداة للتواصل مع بعضنا البعض والمساحة الفيزيائية، ثم استخدام تلك المشاهدات لإنشاء شيء جديد.
بسبب طبيعة الإشعار، نطلب منك أن تحضر المواد التي تشعر بالراحة في استخدامها، مثل دفتر الرسم، الكاميرا أو أي وسيلة كنت ستستخدمها بشكل طبيعي أثناء الذهاب في نزهة.
